The Distinguished Young Leader Award is among the most prestigious recognition the college can bestow upon a student who is completing his or her studies at McLennan Community College. The award is presented to a graduating or completing student of MCC who has demonstrated a record of distinguished service and extraordinary achievement in academic and extracurricular realms, shown remarkable leadership, or provided service to a cause that brings distinction to the college. Each year, one individual is chosen by the MCC Alumni Nominations Committee to receive this prominent award.

• Any individual may nominate a 2009 graduating or completing student for this award. To be eligible, nominees must have successfully completed a minimum of a one-year certificate or two-year associate's degree program or have earned a minimum of 60 transferable hours (without a degree) from McLennan Community College.
• Nomination forms may be submitted online or printed from the alumni web site at: http://alumni.mclennan.edu/. Documents to support the nomination (resume, awards, letters of recommendation) should be submitted by mail or fax to:

• Nominations must be submitted or postmarked by June 30, 2009 for consideration for the award announcement at the September 2009 Scholarship Recognition Ceremony. Recipient will be notified by August 1, 2009 so he or she may make plans to attend the ceremony. The Honoree's name will be engraved on a paver in the Highlander Legacy Plaza and on a permanent display on the MCC campus.
