FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE….
MCC History Book for Sale through Alumni Association
The recently published commemorative 40th anniversary history book on McLennan Community College is now available for purchase through the new MCC Highlander Alumni Association.
The book, “McLennan Community College—Celebrating 40 Years of Serving Central Texas,” is a 175-page coffee-table style, full-color hard-back that recounts the founding of this great academic institution in Central Texas through personal interviews and long lost historical documents and photos.
Authored by former USA TODAY reporter Sandra Sanchez, the book chronicles the struggles and triumphs that the early founders encountered in the 1960s while trying to form the first junior college in McLennan County. The book highlights the academic and institutional successes and evolution of various programs and ideals at the college throughout its four decades. It caps off with the addition of several buildings currently being erected for future use that will ensure the growth of McLennan Community College for years to come.
The book also includes a bonus DVD that features photos from the school’s first 40 years.
Publication of the book was funded entirely through the generous donation of sponsors, enabling all proceeds from book sales to go directly to the MCC Foundation for use in scholarship funds.
The book sells for $20 plus tax and shipping. Highlander Alumni Association members receive a $5 discount on each copy. To purchase, visit http://alumni.mclennan.edu/ and click on "Online Store."
